The UP ROTC DASH 2015 is the fourth installment of the annual fun run organized by the UP Vanguard University Chapter and the UP Corps of Cadets. This annual event started as the UP ROTC Centennial Run in 2012 to commemorate the 100th year of UP ROTC in the country. It was then re-branded as UP ROTC DASH in 2013 and thus started as an annual event. It has since been intended to advertise ROTC Training to the youth as still a relevant and viable program.
Aimed to showcase training experiences in the Corps, it has been featuring different activities which include military skills such as rappelling, rope courses, marksmanship and tactical movements (through airsoft war games). It has also featured static displays and interactive exhibits in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Participation to the annual run has been increasing ever since it started. From a start of 350 in 2012, it increased to 700 in 2013 and close to a thousand in 2014! It has indeed been a good sight to see more and more runners join the event.
Last year’s run aimed to raise funds for the renovation of the DMST Complex to be a more conducive relief operations center. This year, the proceeds from this event will benefit the Urban Survival Orientation Course of the UP Corps of Cadets, as part of their Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Training.
